  5. Don’ts – things not to write about
    1. Don’t write about things that happened to other people unless you have their permission
    2. Realize that others will read this for many years – keep private things private.
    3. Don’t mention names in your story unless that person has given you permission. You could say “another student” etc. rather than mentioning names.
  6. Samples
    1. I remember when I was just a baby and I always used to wake up really early. I would crawl out of my crib and go downstairs to empty out all the cupboards. My mom would laugh! I also have a picture of me emptying out the cupboards.
    2. In grade one, the teacher was reading my class a story. I had to throw up but I wanted to hear the end of the story so I didn’t leave. I threw up and had to get the caretaker to clean it up. When I told my mom she said it must have been an awfully good story to have waited so long.

Yearbook Cover Design

  • * Work to be done at home.*
  1. The Competition Process
    1. All students are to design a cover for the yearbook
    2. Instructions will be given in class. Design and completion will be done at home.
    3. The class will vote on which design will be on this year’s yearbook
    4. Student names will not be on the designs so that students vote for the design, not the student
    5. Voting will take place in several rounds until 2 designs are selected
    6. The top design will be on the front cover and the 2nd place design will be on the back cover. The winners will trace their designs so that the cover can be copied for every yearbook. At that time the artists will sign their cover designs.
