Mad Minute Math is a daily number fact drill based on the book:
The Mad Minute: A Race to Master the Number Facts by Paul Joseph Shoecraft & Terry James Clukey
It is available at Amazon.com and is a fabulous way to practice number facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication & division) as well as percents, fraction equivalents and decimals.
Rationale for Marking Scheme

The daily score on MMM is based on the number of correct answers until the first mistake or question that is missed. That means that if 32 questions are answered but an error occurs on question 17, the score is 16 for that day. Although this seems a harsh penalty at first, the rationale is that number facts is the one thing that students need to know perfectly - similar to needing to know how to form the letter "k" when writing. You can't pick & choose what you want to know - you need to know it all.

The scoring system that I use is the one suggested by the authors of "The Mad Minute" and in the more than 15 years that I have used it, I have found the results in learning to be worthwhile. In my experience, every student improves their immediate recall of number fact - both in speed and accuracy - through these drills. Although I am aware that others administer this drill differently, I feel confident that the scoring system used adds to the success of this program and therefore Mad Minute Math happens the way it does in our class.
