APPLE PIE

10 Inch Pie
10" Crust - 2 crust (see Basic Pie Crust)

FILLING
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup flour
1 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. cinnamon
dash of salt
8 cups thinly sliced tart apples (peeled & cored) +/- 7 medium apples
3 tbsp. margarine
* if apples not tart, add 1 to 2 tbsp. lemon juice

Heat oven to 425° F.
Stir together sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon & salt. Mix lightly with apples.
Turn into pastry lined pie plate. Dot with margarine.
Cover with pastry lid. Seal edges & crimp. Pierce lid with fork for a few vent holes.
Decorate with other pastry cut outs or sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
Bake for 40 to 50 minutes.
When crust is nicely browned a little bit of syrup bubbles up through vents, then pie is done.
