- " Thank you so much for coming to our school. The
students loved the whole experience. We will certainly
recommend you to others! Cheers"
BS, Fr.C.W. Sullivan,

- "Just wanted to let you know
how much .. the students and I enjoyed your presentation. It
was fabulous and I know the students learned a lot. The grab
bags were amazing. I opened one and was thrilled to find the
samples enclosed. Definitely a great deal of work on your
end.
Thank you so much again! What an amazing hands on experience
that is geared for the students' level of interest and
knowledge and very affordable. We loved it! See you in
February!" MAB, Champlain Trail PS, Mississauga
- "The kids were thrilled with their mineral bags, and
we were all very impressed with the great variety of samples
you brought for the kids to check out.... Well, we liked the
fact that Nicholas had a ton of real experience on real rock
hounding and prospecting. It made him much more authentic,
and very knowledgeable. He was also very patient and good
with the kids. The size and variety of the samples he
brought were great! The hands on nature of this is essential
in keeping kids around the grade 4 age (9-10) engaged and
interested." JP,
Bayview Hill Elementary School, Richmond Hill
- "Elfi .... Thank you for the
terrific job Nicholas and you did on Sunday
(McMichael Family Sunday - Rock, Paper,
Scissors). The
Rockhounds were a success and we received great feedback
from visitors big and small! Geology brought a completely
different view to Ed Bartram's work and it was fascinating
to see some of the cool rocks you brought. Thank you again
for your time and effort. I hope we can work together again
in the future. " JS, Program Coordinator,
McMichael Art Gallery
- " The kids did enjoy the presentation [Pulleys &
Gears] and so did the
volunteers. It was informative and covered all of the
curriculum expectations."
YD, St. Rose of Lima CS, Scarborough
- " It was exceptional.............We are definitely
booking for next year and may also do the pulleys and gears
workshop. Thanks for hand outs. We love your presentations

"The
rock talk was very informative and hands on. The kids enjoyed
themselves and really got involved in the different stations. We
were very proud that they were able to regurgitate (haha) what
they learned in class. His interaction with the children was
phenomenal. The kids loved it. We liked it because the
presentation was brought to us, we have already received
feedback from some parents praising the opportunity of having
outside groups coming into classrooms with their expertise.
Would
highly recommend. Thank you." AW, St. Mark School, Etobicoke
- "...the foremost thing I saw was the students'
interest and enthusiasm for the different rocks. They really
enjoyed seeing all the various types they had never seen
before. It sparked an interest in seeing more rocks for many
students. They expressed a greater urge to travel and find
interesting rocks of their own."
KS, Arnott Charlton Public School,
Brampton
- "Just finished the Pulleys and
Gears workshop with Nick Gere. Very pleased. Are there
any workshops for grade 6 students? The grade 6
teachers were asking and I said I would find out. Thanks
again." KC, St. Luke
School,
Mississauga
- "I felt the pulley presentation was excellent.
The children were engaged and have been talking about all
the pulleys they see. We had one student with the help of
his dad design and make a catapult with a pulley. I would
like to schedule bookings for both rocks and pulleys next
year. Thanks" KD, Oscar
Peterson PS, Mississauga
- "We have used your website to
do learning labs so our kids are familiar with Rockhounds
and your work. This would be a great opportunity for them as
they thrive on practical, hands-on learning."
VZ, North Peel Secondary
School, Brampton
- "We really enjoyed the presentation [Rocks &
Minerals] on Thursday and Friday of last week. The hands-on
was great, and the samples of rocks were very unique.
Teachers should be strongly encouraged to have parent
volunteers so there is an adult at each station. Tools and
artifacts were informational and well worth the children
exploring and learning about." CM,
Osprey Woods PS, Mississauga
- "We all enjoyed the pulleys and gears workshop. The
materials were excellent and the activities were all
relevant. This is certainly an experience I could not have
provided for my students on my own. Thank you for your time
and expertise." CHK, Crosby Heights
PS, Richmond Hill
- "The kids, the volunteers and the teachers enjoyed
the the (Rock Talk) workshop today."
SPR, St. Hilary ES, Mississauga
- "Thank you so much for this wonderful web site (www.RocksForKids.com).
I am a teacher who is currently inundated ... and this is a
welcome change! And sites like yours help, when we have so
little time or money to prepare meaningful Science lessons,
in particular. Again - thank you."
VB, Costa Mesa, California
- "The workshop [Pulleys & Gears] was great! The students told me
afterwards that they really enjoyed it. The display of tools
and machines were very neat. "
GK,
Unionville Meadows PS, Markham
- "Yes we really enjoyed our
visit with Rocko. When I discussed the visit with my class
afterwards several of them said they wanted to be a
geologist or a "rockhound" when they grew up. I thought the
presentation of the "tools of the trade" and the follow up
memory exercise was excellent. The students saw equipment
they had never seen before and were especially thrilled with
the "bear horn". Nick explained everything slowly and
clearly and related to the students' own experiences where
he could. The rock and mineral samples were exceptional and
the hands-on experience so valuable. The only thing I would
change for next year - and we will definitely have you back
next year - is to book the visit for later in the unit when
the students have discussed more types of rocks and looked
at some minerals. .... Looking forward to seeing you again
next year. Thanks again for a terrific program."
DP, Summitview PS, Stouffville
- "Nick "Rocko" was excellent. The students really
enjoyed learning about rocks and minerals. We loved the
center approach! The kids were really interested. After
talking to my colleagues we have decided to have another
rock talk next year! Thanks for the great websites and
follow up activities. Our classes have enjoyed going on to
your websites to research the minerals in their sample
bags.... I really liked how Nick's profile sheet on the
physical properties were laid out! Very student friendly...
Thanks again. We really enjoyed our Rock talk and we look
forward to seeing you again next year."
TP, Nahani Way PS, Mississauga
- "We really enjoyed the visit from “Rocko”. The kids
liked the hands-on stations and learning the different
characteristics of the minerals and rocks. The format was
relaxed and educational at the same time. Rocko’s sense of
humour was enjoyable as well. And everyone liked their the
grab bags, a good value I think. Thanks for coming out!"
AS, Homeschooling Co-op, Angus
- Thanks for a great session last week. Both of the
kids had a great time. A.M. especially enjoyed getting to
see and hold a real piece of obsidian. He loved to rock room
and being able to hold the rocks and feel their weight and
texture. It was a great experience for him to see in person
all of the rocks he has been reading about in books. Your
rock room really made rocks come alive.
A.M. has a new
respect for rocks now. I haven't found any rocks in his
pockets while doing laundry this week as I usually do. He
has cleared the soccer trophies from his bookshelf and
replaced them with his own rock display; each rock with it's
own neatly printed label. You can imagine the beating my
washer has taken in the past. .... Your gentle nature was
well received by A.M. Thanks for inspiring a junior rock
hound. D.M.,
mother of grade 4 student & sister who had a private session
about rocks & minerals, Mississauga
